Electric arc furnace steel making

Electric arc furnace steel making

Short Description:

Electric arc furnace steel making process can meet higher quality steel product, with rich experience in metallurgical projects, MET is dedicated to providing tailor-made electric arc furnace for customers, striving for meeting the demand of each customer and building long-term cooperation with more customers.

According to raw material difference, pig/sponge iron, scrap or non-ferrous ore, two kind of arc furnaces are separately selected, one is electric arc furnace for making steel, the other is submerged arc furnace for smelting non-ferrous ore to make alloy.

MET master mature electric arc furnace steelmaking technology and process, to provide customers with high quality, high performance and cost-effective complete smelting equipment, including electric arc furnace, submerged arc furnace, refining furnace, and continuous casting machine; Among them, MET provides customers with two types of electric arc furnaces, one is top charging EAF, and the other is horizontal continuous charging EAF, also known as consteel furnaces. According to the specific steel smelting needs, customized equipment configuration for customers, such as AOD furnace, VOD furnace, LF furnace, etc. To meet the needs of customers to produce plain carbon steel, stainless steel and other steel grades. Continuous casting machines are suitable for the production of various billets, such as square billets, rectangular billets, and slabs.

Steel making refers to the process of producing steel from iron ore and/or scrap. Generally speaking, the steel making process can be separated into two stages: primary steel making process and secondary steel making process. During the primary steel making process, there are three methods for you to select: basic oxygen converter, electric arc furnace and medium-frequency induction furnace.

Electric arc furnace (EAF) is a commonly used method for manufacturing steel. Electric arc furnace uses the scrap steel or directed reduced iron (DRI) as the main feed material. The EAF method feeds recycled steel scrap through high-power electric arcs (with temperatures of up to 1,650 degrees Celsius) to melt the metal and convert it into high-quality steel. In electric arc furnaces, the charged material (the material entered into the furnace for heating, not to be confused with electric charge) is directly exposed to an electric arc, and the current from the furnace terminals passes through the charged material.

Submerged arc furnace is also known as electric arc furnace or electric resistance furnace. It is mainly used for reducing smelting ores, carbon reducing agents and solvents and other raw materials. The main production of ferrosilicon, ferromanganese, ferrochrome, ferrotungsten, silicon manganese alloy and other ferroalloys, is an important industrial raw materials in the metallurgical industry and calcium carbide and other chemical raw materials. MET provides mature submerged arc furnace technologies, from mini 4000kva up to 63000kva.
