Hot rolled strip in the high temperature hot rolling, coiling and cooling process will occur surface oxidation, on the surface to form a layer of iron oxide scale (commonly known as scale), hot rolled strip before entering the subsequent treatment process (such as cold rolling), must be the surface scale clean (that is, remove scale), otherwise it will directly affect the subsequent treatment effect, damage the roll and affect the surface quality of the cold rolled plate

Acid-washing/Pickling is currently the most widely used descaling process, pickling has high efficiency and fast production speed, but pickling has problems such as acid mist discharge, poor working environment, high investment and maintenance costs, and at the same time, pickling has process defects such as under-pickling, over-pickling and shut-down spots

Acid-free scale removal technology is to achieve the purpose of scale removal without acid, and has the advantages of small environmental pollution, no waste acid and acid mist discharge. Scientific researchers at home and abroad strive to find a new type of descaling process that can effectively replace pickling, and have carried out a lot of research on this for many years, and have successively developed APO iron friction descaling, plasma descaling, ultrasonic descaling, laser descaling, shot blasting descaling, reduced descaling, brush roll grinding descaling (SCS), abrasive water jet descaling, high-pressure sand blasting descaling (NID) and various improvements and combination schemes, most of these processes achieve process replacement for chemical pickling by mechanical means, electricity and sound field and other physical methods
